Faye Shapiro

was born in Jerusalem 1983. She studied painting at the neueKUNSTschule in Basel and singing in Israel, NYC, Sweden and Finland with various teachers. She organizes and facilitates singing gatherings: most recently in the "Image art and spiritual reality" Free Columbia art conference in Hudson, NY and "Puolukka" with Teija Englund in Finland- a unique singing improvisation training/ensemble. She is currently based in Jerusalem where she studies composition at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and teaches voice.

Faye Shapiro and Marisa Michelson have dedicated a month working together thanks to a residency through the Free Columbia art course. They will share a work-showing of their vocal/movement piece Voice Becoming.
